Heritage Skills Training Workshops 2025
Reviving traditional heritage skills through learning, practice and exchange
CROMLahore organised a series of Heritage Skills Training workshops in 2025, bringing together experts, practitioners and participants to explore traditional heritage conservation techniques and craftsmanship. The programme focused on building awareness and understanding of traditional skills through lectures, demonstrations, knowledge-sharing sessions and visits to significant heritage sites. Participants were introduced to the historical and cultural importance of techniques including Lime, Kashi Kari and Naqqashi, while gaining insight into their role in the conservation of Lahore’s built heritage.
The training also provided participants with hands-on opportunities to apply their learning through practical exercises and guided workshop sessions. Working with traditional materials and techniques, participants engaged in processes such as lime work, tile and mosaic work, Kashi Kari and Naqqashi, developing a deeper understanding of the skill, precision and craftsmanship involved in heritage conservation. Through this combination of knowledge-sharing, site-based learning and practical experience, the 2025 programme contributed to the documentation, transmission and continued appreciation of Lahore’s traditional heritage skills.
