The initiating series, titled “CROMLahore Volume 1”, was presented on the 14th of February, 2023, at 5:00 pm, at the Quaid-e-Azam Library, Bagh-e-Jinnah. In keeping with the traditions of the Mughals, the auspicious day selected for this event was none other than the 540th birth anniversary of the founder of the Mughal dynasty, the gardener, the writer, a controversial invader yet an exiled, self-made, determined and warrior Prince, Babur.

CROMLahore presented their research on Mughal Lahore within Iqbal Hall, a panelled and decorated room in a colonial building, located in a landscaped garden, bringing history full circle with talks on the Mughal city of Lahore.

This international event was attended by people from all walks of life. Architects, artists, educators, historians, designers, and students from various institutions graced the occasion. Everyone seemed to leave with a taste of what it is to come in the next few months from this first cohort of scholars.

CROMLahore founding members (L to R): Saamia Vine Ahmed, Dr. Faiqa Waqar, Pof. Dr. Kanwal Khalid, Usman Saeed, Saba Samee and Fatima Saeed. Joining via video, Dr. Mehreen Chida-Razvi and Dr. Murad Khan Mumtaz
